Specials Guide
Test House & Last Minute Club
Two offers that trade a little margin for something specific: a new cleaner you can trust, or an empty hour you didn't have to leave empty. Here is when to run each one, what to say, and the one number that tells you whether the discount is safe.
When to use each one
Both offers trade a little margin for something specific. Know which one you are buying before you send it.
- Test House — use it when a new cleaner joins and you need a real home to test them in, or when a fence-sitting client wants proof before committing. One-time only, never a standing rate.
- Last Minute Club — use it when today or tomorrow is empty and an unpaid hour is worth more than the discount. It fills the schedule; it does not win a price war.
- How often: a Test House whenever a new cleaner starts. A Last Minute Club at most once a week to any one client — text the same person a deal every week and they learn to wait for it.
- Never use either to rescue a job you already priced too low. Fix the price in the calculator first, then discount from a number that was always going to pay.
Exact pitch scripts
SMS first — you have their phone. Send the email version when the job is bigger or the client is a corporate or Airbnb host.
Setting the discount safely
The discount comes out of your share, not out of thin air. Two numbers decide whether an offer is safe.
- You Keep per labor hour is the number that matters, not the price. A $200 bi-weekly clean at 50% cleaner pay and 2 hours on site keeps you $50 an hour. At 15% off it keeps you $42.50 an hour — the same job, less pay for the same hours.
- Set your minimum You Keep per hour at the top of the Specials tab. The calculator warns you the moment an offer drops under it. It never blocks you — you decide.
- If the warning shows, one of two things is wrong: the discount is too deep for this job, or the job was priced too low before the discount. Both are fixable in the calculator.
- Raise the discount only when the alternative is an empty hour. A filled hour at a small discount still beats a clean schedule with nothing in it.
After the client says yes
The offer only pays off if you close the loop on the same visit.
- Tell the cleaner it is a training and feedback clean before they arrive, and who is answering the client's questions if they get stuck.
- Collect the feedback in writing, not over the phone: was the cleaner on time, what was missed, would you book again. Three answers, one text back.
- Offer the recurring rate at the end of the clean while they are happy — that is the whole point of a Test House.
- For a Last Minute Club job, book the next visit before you leave the driveway. One-off discount clients who never rebook are a cost, not a win.
- Keep a Test House one-time. If they ask for the same price again, the answer is the recurring rate, not another discount.
